Gosh, it's been a while since I've checked in here....almost since the beginning of lockdown in fact! A few months ago when there was so much uncertainty, lives were upended and people were confined, we all had to refigure our plans and work out new modes of living. I've had it much easier than a lot of people, and for that I'm very grateful. The biggest blow for me was being unable to play any shows with my band...being unable to play drums at all in fact.
I never stopped painting but with all this extra time I needed a new project to get my teeth stuck into; something I could focus on, that I enjoyed and that didn't require me to delve into any dark recesses within my mind....there was quite enough darkness in London and I wanted escapism.
So, the drummer recycled her drumskins. I had loads knocking about the studio and I decided to embark on my own personal 'lockdown project', painting on these skins (that would have otherwise been binned). I've been drawing inspiration from my favourite musicians, artists, movies, pop culture in general and generally been having a wild old time with it all. The response on social media has been humbling as well, with skins being snapped up as soon as I post them and commissions being requested for other people's inspirations.
Here's a selection of the skins I've painted over the last 4 months, and any available skins are up on my online shop over here. Please feel free to have a browse and I'm happy to answer questions or discuss commissions.
Try to stay safe and be mindful of those around you. X
